What and How to Report
The database has passed the point where reporting every new example of a PC 66 or PC 90 label is of value. For example, given the following information already reported
| 2765 | 1A | 24 oct 39 | Basses Alpes/F | S 4F | Glasgow |
| 2765 | 1A | 30 may 41 | Billingshurst/ Sussex | A | Portugal |
| 2765 | 1A | 29 jun 42 | Hawaii | A 50c | UK |
| 2765 | 1A7 | 26 jan 43 | Oran | S 2F | Geneva RX |
| 2765 | 1A7 | 25 feb 43 | Constantine/ Algeria | S | Geneva RX |
| 2765 | 1? | .20 nov 44 | Algeria | S 4F | USA |
adding another cover from Algeria to the Red Cross in Geneva postmarked February 14, 1943 would have little value. On the other hand, reporting such Algeria-Geneva mail sent outside those dates would be useful as would, say a (currently totally hypothetical) cover going in the opposite direction, whatever its date. And any covers that would help define when (and for that matter whether), examiner 2765 devoted him/herself exclusively to Algerian mail to the Red Cross would be very useful.
How to report
As to how to report, a picture is worth quite a few words here, so scans are the preferred means of reporting. In lieu of a scan, let the data above be your guide.
Please report:
- Label type
- Postmark date
- Place sent from
- Postage (and whether air or surface)
- Place sent to
If there are other unusual or potentially helpful data (e.g., censorship or postal markings indicating routing; other airmail or, service interruption), please add those details.
